Pilobolus Is a Fungus
Focus: Science Grades: 2–6
Connecticut-based dance troupe Pilobolus presents “Pilobolus Is a Fungus,” a show rooted in science for elementary school students based on “Branches,” a site-specific dance commissioned by Jacob’s Pillow.
The interactive performance takes the audience on a journey through nature via the sounds, shapes, colors, and movements of birds, water, trees, and of course, the troupe’s namesake fungus, in new and unexpected ways.
With the help of Pilobolus dancers, students learn to express a deeper connection to the world through movement and dance.
The Laura Sachs Family Foundation Arts in Education Series at GLAZER HALL opens the doors of the performing arts to students of all backgrounds through a full roster of one-hour, curriculum-connected performances.
We believe the arts are essential in fostering a lifelong love of learning—cultivating curiosity, enhancing critical thinking, and promoting adaptability. In collaboration with local educators, our programming is thoughtfully aligned with school curricula and reading lists, introducing students—many for the very first time—to a rich and diverse range of performing arts experiences.
