Miami City Ballet makes its GLAZER HALL debut with American Odyssey, a vibrant evening celebrating the enduring creativity, musicality, and spirit of American ballet.
The evening opens with George Balanchine’s Allegro Brillante, a radiant showcase of breathtaking speed, sweeping musicality, and classical virtuosity.
At the heart of the program is Choreographic Concerto, an original collaboration between Miami City Ballet and the New World Symphony. Inspired by the structure of a musical concerto, it unfolds through five interconnected short ballets, each pairing a different choreographer with a different composer. From one movement to the next, styles shift, musical worlds collide, and fresh perspectives emerge, coming together as one exhilarating artistic journey.
The program concludes with Balanchine’s Rubies, the dazzling centerpiece of his iconic Jewels. Bold, playful, and infused with the syncopated rhythms of Stravinsky’s jazzy score, Rubies is a sparkling finale that brings American Odyssey to an unforgettable close.
