Driven by his father’s ghost to avenge his murder, Prince Hamlet feigns madness to safely plot against his treacherous uncle, Claudius, who has usurped the throne and married his mother, Gertrude. As his mental state genuinely unravels, Hamlet stages a trap—a play mimicking the assassination—which provokes a guilty, panicked reaction from Claudius and confirms the crime.
