About

For the ultimate ABBA lover- Spend time with the band we all love and enjoy a cocktail or mocktail while you gain in-depth knowledge about the group we all love from Dr. Robert Versteeg.

With his fondness for, and vast knowledge about, music Robert Versteeg will take you on a journey through the career of one of the most successful pop groups in music history selling more than 385 million records worldwide.  They were the first pop group from a non-English-speaking country to achieve consistent success in English-speaking countries like the US and UK. Growing up in Europe, Robert has been a devoted fan of ABBA since they won the Eurovision Song Contest with Waterloo in 1974 for their home country: Sweden.

Their rise to global fame in the 1970s was only comparable to The Beatles. Hits like “Dancing Queen,” “Fernando” and “Take a Chance on Me” have become classics. After they unofficially stopped working as a group in 1982, Frida and Agnetha worked on solo careers, while Benny and Björn created the successful musical Chess with acclaimed composer Tim Rice.  The 1999 popular Broadway musical Mamma Mia was made into an even more successful movie in 2008. It was followed up by Mamma Mia-Here We Go Again in 2018, keeping ABBA’s music in the public eye.

After a 40-year hiatus, ABBA released a new album in 2021. What followed was a spectacular new show in London where the ABBA four-some is performing as Abbatars (a take on Avatars) in a state-of-the-art custom-built stadium.

ABBA’s story is one of tremendous success, but not without its heartaches. Robert will take you on their journey through time and music.
